Safeguarding training gets a refresh

We’ve been refreshing our face to face safeguarding training and our quality team has been loving getting out there to try it out with lots of you!

We have an amazing group of PSS people who get stuck in with our quality team to design, review and facilitate our interactive safeguarding training in person with you wonderful carers. We’re passionate about making sure this training gives:

  • lots of opportunity for discussion
  • good practice conversations
  • a safe space to talk about the challenges you experience in your roles.

Our North Yorkshire carers and PSS colleagues have given our refreshed safeguarding training the thumbs up!

What does the safeguarding training talk about?

We cover lots of topics linked to safeguarding, including:

  • the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
  • supporting positive wellbeing
  • mental capacity
  • positive behaviour support planning
  • allegations management
  • what makes a great safeguarding culture.

Over the last month, our head of quality, Simone, has been all over North Yorkshire with our brand new carers to deliver the safeguarding training. Carers told us they loved chatting things through together and appreciated the real-life examples, videos and quizzes that bring this difficult topic to life.

Stay up to date with your safeguarding training

Our face-to-face safeguarding course is an essential for all staff and Shared Lives carers to do during their induction, and every three years as a refresher.

It’s so important we’re all in the know about how to keep people safe and that we can take learning from incidents we manage throughout the year.
